Lore

Fanottem, Lord of the Opera is original to Hearthstone.

Trivia

  • Fanottem, Lord of the Opera is the highest-cost collectible card in Hearthstone, previously held by  Shirvallah, the Tiger.
  • Fanottem is referred to as a voidwraith in in-game files.[1] This is a race that has been previously tagged as a demon, but Fanottem is not a demon itself. Though this is not definitive proof that developers simply chose to not give a demon the demon minion type, as card races are occasionally mislabeled in the files. Fanottem could be a being similar to  The Darkness.
  • During development Fanottem actually belonged to the Demon category, but was changed for the unbalanced interaction with  Dirge of Despair.[2]
